First, utilize cardio exercises that are intensive and done at regular intervals. To work your body effectively, do cardio work at your regular level, and then do it with more intensity – more “umph”. Then drop back to your normal intensity level. Ratchet the intensity levels up and down, rather than doing what is called cardio “steady state” exercise. Steady cardio work is good for your heart, but does almost nothing to help you lose weight.

So… if one thing you do now is jogging, change it up, and do some walking and then some running. You may have to do more of the less intense work for awhile, until your body gets used to the zig-zagging of varying intensity exercise. Repeat your fast and slow sequence for fifteen or twenty minutes.

Any exercise that you can use for cardiovascular fitness, you can also intensify. The higher intensity segments work better at promoting weight loss because they tend to lessen your available oxygen, and that burns fat. This method will also help your body feel the burn after your workouts. When you elevate your heart rate and thus your metabolic rate, the effects can last for hours after your workout is complete. So you’re still burning fat. That doesn’t happen with traditional cardio work.

Secondly, do mini workouts instead of maxi ones. Shorter workouts with varying intensity levels are suited more to helping speed up your metabolism than long, steady workouts. Don’t exercise only once a day, either. Do a few short sessions, and vary them up. Twenty minutes is a good amount of time for each of your mini workouts.

If you think you don’t have time for this many exercise sessions, think again. Do them while you’re watching TV. Use a jump rope or a mini-trampoline or do jumping jacks. Notice there’s no expensive equipment listed here. You don’t need that to effectively work your belly fat off.

Try these handy mini exercise sessions with varying intensity and see how they work for you. And I know you’ve heard this a million times, but be sure to eat more and smaller meals throughout the day to help you lose weight. Larger meals are more likely to be converted to fat. Smaller meals will give your body fuel to work off in your exercise sessions.

DON’T skip breakfast, as this is the easiest meal to burn off, since it’s your first fuel of the day. And don’t eat heavy snacks after dinner, or late evening dinners, because that food will just be asking to be converted to fat, since you’ll be lying down to sleep soon thereafter.

Eat vegetables and fruits, and foods low in fat and calories, and don’t give up on yourself. You can have ripped abs, too! You just have to find them first.
